Our call to prayer can be manifested in different ways. For instance, there is the time we come before God’s presence with rejoicing and thanksgiving to let our request made known unto Him. As we lay our burden down, the results are the peace of God that surpasses all understanding (Phil. 4:4-7).
There is also the prayer of faith by the elders of the Church who anoint the people with oil “And the prayer of faith shall save the sick” and there is also the call to “pray for one another, that you may be healed “ (See James 5:14-16).
The intercessory prayer of the Spirit helps our infirmities by making intercession for us, for we do not know what we should pray as we ought to, but the Spirit does according to the will of God (See Romans 8:26-27).
But above all, there is the intercession on our behalf of Christ who sits at the right hand of the Father (Romans 8:34). It is here where we are seated with Him in the heavenly realm, (Eph. 2:6) that we intercede with Him, that which He reveals to us. We know that He will perform His Word because it originated from Him.
And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desire of Him (1 John 5:14-15).
As well as praying up, we can pray down from the heavenly realm the will of God revealed to us. As we lift our eyes to the heavens, we are able to see with the eyes of the Sprit, the truth and reality as God sees (Is. 51:6). For me, prayer is simply communication with God. As I hear His heart, I will in turn make the request to Him, knowing that He will perform it, because it’s source is from His heart that reveals His thoughts, purpose and passion. He is just looking for someone to come into agreement and declare it and He will then perform it (Is 55:8 – 12).
King David declared the heavens belong to the Lord, but the earth He has given to men (Ps.115:126). Intercession is simply releasing from heaven the will of the Father to the earth where we are seated with Christ above. This was the model of Jesus when He walked this earth who always saw what the Father was doing, speaking the words He heard the Father saying.
In this, we truly become one with the Spirit of God. Praying from above with the heart of God is a powerful key that enables us to usher in the will of God with signs following that reveals the Kingdom of heaven on earth as it is in heaven. When you pray for others according to that which God gives to you, you move into heaven empowered utterance. As you speak, the Holy Spirit will anoint the words that have life and wonderful supernatural things take place (John 6:63).
You are called for such a time as this to be an oracle of God (1 Peter 4:11). Let your words always be seasoned with grace, (His anointing) that others may hear the voice of the Father speaking through that brings life to one another (Col. 4:6).
